A green one

A green red scarf!!!

I was reading the OFA site and they also accept green, black, and blue colors among other "manly" colors.

This one is medium thyme, which is actually an olive green type color.

It's Red Heart yarn and it is 75 inches long by 6.5 inches wide.

A little longer than normal but I am sure that's ok.

Thankful Thursday

It's been so hot and humid here this week.

My boy is taking swim lessons and doing very well with it. He's having lots of fun too.

My husband has taken some time off work this week.

And my daughter is doing well.

And my mom is home from her knee replacement surgery and doing very well.

I am indeed thankful.

This week I am thankful for:

* a healthy family
* God's grace
* sunshine
* the smell of my flower gardens
* my two dogs

God is good indeed!

Two months.........

It's been two long months since we lost our Otis.

We all miss him.

His brother Louie is still sad. He is eating and drinking but he is sad.

He's not the same without his buddy.

Hummingbird moth

My husband took this picture yesterday afternoon.

We get this visitor to our gardens every year, and they love the Bee Balm too.

It looks similar to a hummingbird but it has antenna and it is a moth.

Baker street

This song came out in 1978 and it's always been a favorite of mine.

It brings back a lot of memories.

Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day, you’ll drink the night away
And forget about everything.

This city desert makes you feel so cold
It’s got so many people but it’s got no soul
And it’s taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything.

You used to think that it was so easy,
You used to say that it was so easy
But you’re tryin’, you’re tryin’ now.
Another year and then you’d be happy
Just one more year and then you’d be happy
But you’re cryin’, you’re cryin’ now.

Way down the street there’s a light in his place
He opens the door, he’s got that look on his face
And he asks you where you’ve been, you tell him who you’ve seen
And you talk about anything.

He’s got this dream about buyin’ some land
He’s gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he’ll settle down, in some quiet little town
And forget about everything.

But you know he’ll always keep movin’
You know he’s never gonna stop movin’
Cause he’s rollin’, he’s the rollin’ stone.
And when you wake up it’s a new morning
The sun is shining, it’s a new morning
But you’re going, you’re going home.

Painted stones

A few years ago my husband came home from a garage sale with these painted stones.

They have all sorts of things painted on them. Animals, faces, zodiac signs. There are other things too.

He thought our son would like them.

They are right outside in the rocks in the garden except they are weather beaten now.

Our boy would play with them occasionally, and put them in my purse or pocket.

They are unique and it is fun to see them when I walk up to the house.

Something old......

I found this yesterday.

I always knew where it was, sort of.

It was somewhere in my roll top desk.

It's old. I got it in 1980 when I was in the Army.

And it's small. Small enough to fit in my purse or pocket.

I wonder if they still give out bibles these days??

Sunday song

Rescue by Jared Anderson

You are the source of life
I can't be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of You

I need You Jesus to come to my rescue
Where else can I go?
There's no other name by which I am saved
Capture me with grace
I will follow You

This world has nothing for me
I will follow You
This world has nothing for me

I will follow You

John 3:3
3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Another red scarf

I finished this one today.

It's made with Homespun yarn and the color is Candy Apple.

This one is 5 and 1/2 inches wide and 67 inches long.

Bee Balm

This is the Bee balm in our front yard.

It's a perennial so it comes up every year.

The Hummingbirds love it and so do the Bumblebees!

My son loves watching the bumblebees in the yard.

It adds such a burst of color to the yard. Behind it you can see the trumpet vines too.

Garden

Another picture of the garden. It's doing well.

Lots of tomatoes and peppers.

This is one of the green peppers. It is huge! I gave another one to my brother.

My husband and I have been talking recently about expanding the garden next year.

I think we are going to!

I will have more space to grow some different veggies and still grow all the tomatoes and peppers,

We'll have lots of work to do in the spring for the new garden!

Remember these??

April blankets

There was a charity I was going to send them to but it didn't work out.

Now someone on my crochet board is donating blankets to an NICU where her son spent time when he was born.

So, the blankets are going there. I am sending them off tomorrow.

Thankful Thursday

It's the middle of summer, hot muggy days.
I am thankful for much today.

* seeing my veggie garden grow
* seeing my mom progress with her knee rehab
* seeing my children together
* for my husband, who is a hard worker and good provider
* for being home with my boy

And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Christmas in July......

Not really.

But we recently had a dollar tree open in my town. A dollar for a skein of cotton yarn is great!

I love dollar stores. It's great for getting cards, tissue paper, gift bags etc.

And YARN!!!!!

I got these three skeins of cotton yarn there too.

It's Christmas colors and I will probably make dish cloths for gifts.

Matt harding dancing around the world.

This is the coolest video.

Listen to the music too.

A Rose.......

This is a rose and a bud.

It's the last remaining Rose flower and bud that I have.

Fourteen years ago my husband planted about 5 Rose shrubs on the side of our house.

They didn't do well there and over the years they have all died off but this one plant.

Actually nothing does well on that side of our house.

This year I get two flowers out of the shrub!

Sunday song

Thank You Lord
by Don Moen

I come before you today
And there's just one thing that I want to say
Thank you lord
Thank you lord
For all you've given to me
For all the blessings that I cannot see
Thank you lord
Thank you lord

With a grateful heart
With a song of praise
With an outstretch arm
I will bless your name
Thank you lord
I just wanna thank you lord
Thank you lord
I just wanna thank you lord
Thank you lord

For all you've done in my life
You took my darkness and gave me your light
Thank you lord
Thank you lord
You took my sin and my shame
You took my sickness and healed all my pain
Thank you lord
Thank you lord

Summer blooms

I took this picture this morning of Grandma's Trumpet Vines.

They are blooming now and they are beautiful. The hummingbirds love them too!!
