Thankful Thursday

Today has been a rainy dreary day. Our electricity went out for a short time.

It's been a cool week. I think fall is on it's way.

Today I am thankful for:
* my kids
* my husband
* electricity
* private school
* long lost friends!

September afghans

This is an afghan I just finished for my niece. She is getting married and I made her this afghan and another one I posted earlier. She told my daughter that she wished she had chosen another color so I made her another afghan.

This one is made with Lion Brand Homespun. The color is Montana Sky and my daughter picked it out.

It measures 40 inches wide and 64 inches long.

I hope she likes it!!

Faith Hope Charity

I went to the Restoring Honor Rally in Washington DC on August 28. It was quite remarkable to be there.

This picture is of my cousins and me at the Mall. I am the second one from the front in the red t shirt. The rest are my cousins and friends. There were seven of us all together.

We left the house about 6:30 am and got to the Mall about 8:30 am. I am thankful that my cousin had the foresight to purchase Metro passes ahead of time for all of us. That was the deal breaker for attending the Rally since some of the people waiting at the Metro station for tickets didn't actually make it to the Rally.

We all stood in the sun for about 8 hrs that day. It was well worth it and I would do it again.

Some of the highlights were Sarah Palin speaking, the men being honored by Glenn and Alveda King speaking and the singing of Amazing Grace with the bagpipes.

What stands out most to me was the togetherness and oneness of the crowd. I actually didn't see any bigots or racists there and I can't believe people call conservatives those vile names.

The whole rally was about restoring honor to America. Because over the years we have lost our honor.

It was also about Faith. Your faith and my faith. Turning back to God. Because that really is the answer. God is the answer and I have seen it several times in my very own life. GOD is the only answer.

This is a picture of the Mall. But it's not a full picture of all the people there. There were people all the way back to the Washington Monument. What else that the TV cameras didn't see was all the people under the trees and all the people sitting on blankets and chairs!!! I was there and I know there were at least a quarter of a million people there. At least. Rumor has it that a park police estimated the crowd at 1.6 million.

Looking at this picure, we were about halfway down the reflecting pool on the right side. We were standing right in front of a speaker tower, so we had no crowd to our backs, we were able to sit on the fence.

It was an incredible experience.

Romans 8:28 (New Living Translation)

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Finally finished my last Prayer Shawl. It seemed as though it took me a long time to finish this one. I had an almost week long break there.

It is made with Lion Brand Homespun and the color is Pesto. I think it's a pretty shawl, but I like them all!!

Prayers and Promises week 36

Romans 8:17
Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.

able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand.

Prayers and Promises week 35

This week's verse is
I Peter 1:6-7
6 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while.
7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
