Seven years ago the Taliban in Afghanistan destroyed these Buddha statues of Bamiyan. I was very sad when it happened and thought it was terrible. There were two of the statues and both were destroyed. They were built in about the 6th century.
Even though there were no more Bhuddist in the country to worship the statues, they were destroyed anyway. It's a shame. I can only wonder WHY??
