It's been a while since I posted.

It's been a while, can't believe it's been a whole year. A lot has happened in this year.
I've been visiting California a couple times a year. My daughter lives there. It's nice to go out there and visit.

I still go to see my cousins in Maryland too, but missed a year recently.

My boy is in high school!! He was diagnosed with High functioning Autism. Now that we know that, I find it easier to understand him.

My girl is still in college, finishing up her RN.

My husband is doing well too.

My nephew and his wife had a baby in August!

I was diagnosed in July with Breast cancer and am dealing with that. I'll make a new post about that though.

Other than that, not much is new.

An update

I haven't posted for so long. I'm still so sad about my mom. It's been almost a year. Her belongings take up half of my garage. My daughter and I tried to sort through her stuff, but it was too hard, maybe this summer I'll be able to do it.

My husband had both his knees replaced in December. He had them done one week apart. He is back to work this week!! He's done very well with the recovery.

In between his surgeries, I broke my arm. It was just awful. We both felt helpless to help eachother. My daughter came out for a short visit and she brought my son back to her place for a visit over Christmas time.

My daughter had surgery in December too!! She is finally feeling better and is back in school. I recently went to visit her and had a wonderful time.

My son has changed schools. He is going to a public school. He went through months of testing and there are services he needs that his private school couldn't accommodate. He's adjusted well, he's been there about a month. He will be a teenager on March 4th! Hard to believe.

I couldn't crochet for 5 long weeks, but I've been able to pick it back up with only occasional pain. But my arm is not fully healed yet. It will come. I can finally use my hand for most things now. I have a lot of crochet to post, but I'll do that later!

Update Post

   It's been an interesting summer for us filled with various illnesses.
June seemed to be ok. I had a root canal done on a tooth that already had a root canal done to it except 
The endodontist forgot a root! I have been in such pain with that tooth for about 2 yrs. It is finally fixed!
   My boy and husband went to Boy Scout camp in mid July for a week. My boy got really sick there and came home sick. I took him to the doctor and he was diagnosed with STREP! My husband was sick and I eventually got sick too, but not with strep, though it felt like it.
   I also had a breast biopsy in July. It was an awful time of not knowing what was going on. But I got
results within days and it was negative. In September my doctor confirmed I had Plantar Fasciitis in my left foot--that is painful! And I have bursitis in my left shoulder. I am getting OLD!
    In early August, my mom got sick. She made a doctor appointment but her doctor was out of town for weeks, so we waited. In that two weeks my mom steadily got worse. When I brought her to the doctor 
she was very unwell and short of breath. At her appointment, the nurse took her pulse and it was 33!!! 
That is way too low. The doctor rechecked that, listened to her heart and ordered and EKG.  That 
Showed a third degree heart block. Not a blockage, but this was an electrical issue in her heart. I
brought her to the hospital immediately and later that afternoon she had a pace maker put in. There was
an  immediate improvement with my mom and she is feeling almost 100% better. 
  We didn't go up north this summer as my shoe class was cancelled. I was sad about that but signed up
for the February shoe making class again. I'll go up again as I did this past February and my husband
will stay home with the boy. My little boy who is now a SIXTH grader!!! Hard to believe but it's true.
  I finally brought SIX bags of outgrown clothes over to my brothers house for his son. No jacket this
year, it's the first year there has been no jacket because my boy used a jacket for TWO years and  then 
the zipper broke. 
  One of my most favorite ever wood crochet hooks, that my husband and I made, met an untimely death.
The new puppy we got in March got a hold of it and chewed it up. I'm trying to work on a replacement 
but it is slow going trying to find time to go out to the shop and work on it.

General update

So, I finally posted pictures of stuff.
School is going well for me, I dropped the philosophy class. The professor was a jerk, always late to class, and he swore all the time. I just didn't have the time to invest in a class I wasn't enjoying.  The Spanish class is going well, just three weeks left. The professor is great, and makes learning spanish fun.
I go in January to make a new pair of shoes, and I am excited about that. I am entertaining my family here for Christmas. Probably about 24 of us again.

My boy is doing well in his new school too. He likes it, his teacher, and his classmates. He continues in Scouts and is doing well with that.

My daughter moved to California in June. I miss her. She was here in August and October, and will be back at Christmas time for a visit. She still loves knitting!

My husband is working a lot and is having knee surgery tomorrow. I hope it helps the pain in his knee.

It's been a while

And I loathe bloggers that post and say they will post pictures later, but, I'm saying that again. I do have pictures to post, but something happened where I can't download from my camera anymore and it seems like such a hassle anymore. I have pictures of crochet stuff and pictures of the shoes I handmade.

It's been somewhat of a busy summer again. My mom moved at the end of July and I spend a couple of weeks getting her unpacked quickly so she would feel at home. She moved to a senior apartment and absolutely loves her new place. It has a great feel to it, and it flows well, and is bright and airy! She is extremely happy there and that makes me very happy.  Mom also turned 86 on July 1 and I have a birthday picture of her I will post. (hehehe)

We went up to Grand Marais this summer. The boys went fishing and I took a shoemaking class and made my very own custom fit/made shoes! It was really an incredible experience and I hope to go again next year.  The boys had fun fishing, and we would all like to go back to visit again. It is a very peaceful town. I love that we can walk anywhere in town too.

I registered for school. I will be taking Spanish and Philosophy. Both classes fill requirements for me to obtain a degree, and I signed up somewhat late, so this is what fits with my schedule.

My boy starts a new school in a couple weeks. I think he is excited and a little nervous and that is understandable.  We could use prayers for all of that.

The daughter is here visiting and it's been nice. She returns home on Wednesday. She is spending some time with Grandma and helping her finish unpacking. They work well together.

We are still trying to find a church home in our community. We like the church attached to the school, it's an Assembly of God affiliation and we are comfortable with that. Could use prayers for finding a church home as well.

For the second year I attended The Global Leadership Summit .http://www.willowcreek.com/events/leadership/  It was incredible and each year I attend, I learn so much, and I learn so much about myself as well. This year it is all about communication. Not just communication, but effective, leadership communication. And I learned about forgiveness. That is a huge one for me right now because I am carrying a lot of unforgiveness and it is a burden. But I am working on that and I know the release will come.

Finally got my yarn under control. We cleaned the extra bedroom/storage  in anticipation of the girl coming home and it took us 6 hours to get the room under control. We did it. I have a very clear picture of the yarn I have and I know exactly what I have to work with. In this process, we also gave SIX large garbage bags of clothing and jackets to our local family services. In addition, there were also a grocery sack of books and household goods, rugs, even a working vacuum cleaner. It is refreshing to donate items we are no longer using.

Looking forward to fall, and what the new school year has in store for us.

A mid summer update

It's mid summer. Another birthday has passed as well as my daughter celebrating another birthday on the same day.  We went out to Red Lobster to eat. It was good.

Unpacking at my mom's is going ok. Not as quickly as I had hoped it would go, but it's coming along. I can only do so much on the days I am there and then something else always comes up that needs doing.  But all the rooms are set up, and boxes are getting unpacked. In between unpacking, I clean her house. It's bigger than her other one, so it will take longer.

Mom is doing very very well. The ortho doctor does not need to see her for a YEAR!! I was shocked to hear that. She will have life long restrictions, mostly of the bending variety. But over all, she is doing very well.

The boy is taking swim lessons and playing baseball. He likes both activities, but is not a prolific swimmer at all. I refer to him as an aqua-rock. But he tries, and he can swim.  His summer has kind of been a bummer because we go to my moms house every other day to help her get settled. That's not a lot of fun for him but I explained that grandma can't do it all herself and we need to help. I think he understands.

My daughter recently had surgery to remove some steel plates and screws from her arms. She was in an accident a few years ago and she required plates and screws to repair her arms. She is glad they are out now and I hope she has less pain now.

I am going to Maryland in August! I can't wait. I thought I wouldn't be able to go this year with my moms surgery,  and school, but I am able to go and I am happy about that!  I signed up for one class this fall, Statistics. I am thinking about going to nursing school, but am still undecided. I am taking classes that are required for the nursing program and are general classes I would need for a degree anyway, so by doing that, I have time to make a decision. It would be a two year RN program. Two years full time.

The husband is working and taking some vacation time this month and next month, which will be nice too. And he is painting our laundry room and putting a new floor beneath the washer and dryer. We recently purchased a new washer/dryer set and thought it was a good time to repaint and refloor that area.

I continue to crochet during the summer. I have several projects I need to finish. I am making my sister in law a prayer shawl. She liked my moms so I thought I would make her one. I also have several baby blankets to make and the mornings my boy has swim lessons I make washcloths for the troops. I can almost finish one during his lesson time.

Update...........

This semester is finally over! I am so glad to be done. It was a tough four months and I still don't "get" algebra.  BUT, I passed! In fact I received a B in my Algebra class and an A- in the writing class. I am shocked with the B. I never ever could have done it without the help of my  tutor-my husband! He was so patient with me most of the time.

I will be taking Statistics in the fall. Only one class. And I decided not to take any summer courses for various reasons.

The boy is doing well in school this year and he is playing soccer right now with baseball following. Six weeks of each.  Then he will be taking his normal three sessions of swimming this summer. We also purchased a season pass again to a local water park. He will have a moderately busy summer. I also foresee some fishing going on as well.

The girl is doing well. So glad to be seeing more of her.

My mom is doing well, sort of. She is moving to a new place in about two weeks. She is also having hip replacement surgery! Just found out about that this week. So glad I am not taking a summer class, especially now. Mom is moving into a lower level unit so that she doesn't have stairs. With her knees, and now her hips, it will be much easier on her.

My husband has been busy with work, that business will end shortly.  He won't be having the crazy schedule soon, and I will be happy and so will the boy.

A note on the seven things project. I continue to rid my home of "stuff."  Most of it is clothing that the boy has out grown. Just recently I gave two pair of winter boots to a friend. Glad to be rid of them too!!

There's so much around here that I haven't had the time to do in the last four months so now I am kind of catching up.  I baked banana bread yesterday,  and burned it!  But I have been hungry for home made baked goods.  I need to make chocolate chip cookies too. YUM.  I have stuff to put away and organize, and I hope to get to the stuff eventually. It's kind of nice not having to run off to school or spend most of my free time studying and writing papers!

Thanksgiving

I'm here with a belated Thanksgiving update.  We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year, just our moms were here with us. Hubby smoked the turkey and I made all the fixings.  It was yummy.  Made a homemade pumpkin pie again this year and it was so easy and tasty.  We will be hosting about 20 for Christmas dinner and gift opening.

School is almost over for me. I received my final test last night and I will turn it in next Wednesday. I am glad I have a week to complete it.  I also signed up for Spring semester classes, two of them this time. I signed up for a basic Math class and a basic Writing class. I need to take more than one class at a time if I am ever going to finish.  But I am glad I started with History. It was a fun, easy class and I actually learned a lot.

Our new windows are all in and they all have new coverings!! We especially love the bay window, it really opens up our house!

For the second time in about a year, my mom was thinking of moving. Mostly because the stairs up to her condo are becoming an issue. So, we looked at another place that she really liked. Until she figured out her finances and decided she didn't really want to move. I don't care what she decides, I just want her to be happy!!  So we have been looking at Stair Aids. It is a chair thingy that attaches to her stairs and it brings her up the stairs. Her building management allows these in the buildings and it isn't that expensive. I think it will be the perfect solution for her.

I got my hair cut a few months ago, a little shorter, then I went and got it cut even shorter. I wasn't sure at first, but I really like it shorter. I think I'll keep it this way. And, in May, I quit dying it, so everyone can see my gray now!

I also went for my 5 month dental hygiene appointment and I need another root canal. The dentist fixed the tooth a year ago and was skeptical that it would work. It didn't and I now need a root canal. The silver lining is that the tooth already has a crown! Yay me. So, I now will have NINE crowns and FIVE root canals in my mouth. The dentist told me some of this is genetics (thanks dad).  Because I do brush and floss every day.  Meh...............

My little guy is doing well in school. He likes school a lot and is a quick learner. Thankfully he loves to read too!  He keeps busy with boy scouts and Awana during the week. He's busy, but not too busy, which is perfect.

Husband is doing well too. He has done a lot of Christmas shopping and between the two of us we are done. I just need to wrap, and I will have my little helper helping me!!

The daughter is doing well too. Keeping busy with her job and cats and going to school.

I think that's about it. I've been crocheting, though not as much lately. I have a few things to post and I'll get to that soon.

I'm still here. For some reason I just haven't felt like blogging much.

Happenings

It snowed here Friday night!! I couldn't believe it. But it is all melted today. We got about 1-2 inches here.

We got the little guy signed up for soccer this spring. Then he starts baseball in early summer.

He will have swim lessons all summer too.

Plus, we attended the auction and won some fun tickets for fun activities. We will be going to the Childrens Museum here and two different water parks. The little guy loves the water parks.

And, there are the dollar movies on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the summer.

There are also a couple of day camps through the YMCA that he is interested in.

My goal is to keep moderately busy, while not running from activity to activity, which I believe I have achieved. I don't want to sit around inside all summer. I need to stay motivated to do some fun stuff this summer.

The little guy did well in his speech contest. And the school, except for Kindergarten, all had SAT tests. I talked to the kids at school throughout the week and they all sounded positive about the testing. My little guy thought it was easy, as did a lot of the other kids. He especially liked the math portion.

I signed up for college, and sent away for my transcripts, which I received so I am assuming the school received their "official" copy. Now I need to call and get an advisor meeting set up so I can get my classes sorted out. I will be attending part time and starting in Fall. I am excited!!

Been busy crocheting and reading too. I'll post some pics
soon.

We finish up this years Bible study in a couple weeks. It's been a great study and I will make a separate post about that!!

Oh! We won a bagels for a year from Panera at the auction. We receive 13 bagels and 2 cream cheese tubs per month! We were all excited about that win. And we won it at a great price!!

Update

I made THIS shawl back in June of 2009.

I'm sad to report that the woman lost her battle on Monday, January 17, 2011.

She had gone into remission, then the Leukemia came back. She fought a long tough battle and now she is at peace.

It is very sad.

An update on an old post

This is the post I want to update. I was reading through my blog and thought I would let you all know what happened to her.

She passed away in 2008. She fought a good battle and lost, sadly.

I recently found out a classmates of mines daughter is also battling cancer. It is going well for her in her battle and there is a light at the end of the tunnel for her soon.

I also know of another woman with two very young children that is also battling cancer and her fight is not going so well.

Please pray for these two women.
