Memorial Blanket

This is a small memorial blanket I made for a woman who recently had a miscarriage.


The blanket is white and it is made with Bernat Babys Breath. It is very similar to the Homespun I use and I like it.

This blanket is for a woman who lost her full term baby girl to a spinal defect.

It's made with Homespun Baby in Soft Violet.

It is 16 x 18.

I made this Memorial blanket for another woman I know that lost her baby daughter.
I just cannot imagine that at all. It breaks my heart.

It is made with Lion Brand Homespun baby. It took six ounces of yarn to make this blanket and it is 15.5 inches wide by 18.5 inches long.

This is another memorial blanket for a special friend.

It's made with Homespun baby in Carnation. I call it pink!!

It is 15 inches by 17 and a half inches.

Made in a simple shell stitch.

I made this memorial blanket for a woman who will give birth to her baby that won't survive. There are genetic issues with the baby.

This blanket is made with Homespun baby, mint green and white.

It is 19x19.

Memorial Blankets

I made another memorial blanket for a woman that I know that lost a baby before term.
This one is a little bigger than I normally make but not much. The color is actually the baby pink color. The lighting was terrible for that pic.
I find it sad that I even make these tiny blankets but I am hopeful they bring some amount of comfort.

I love to make baby blankets and send them to new mama's. For no other reason that it brings me joy.
I also make memorial blankets for mama's. Little blankets I send so they have a memorial blanket for their lost baby. It's sad and though I like to crochet, this is one of my least favorite projects to crochet. It's so sad when I hear of a mommy that has lost her baby. I just hope and pray that these little blankets bring some amount of comfort to the grieving mama.
Today I heard about one of those mama's. She is having another baby! I am going to send her a blanket I am working on right now for her baby due in October. This mama is bringing her memorial blanket to the hospital when she delivers her son so that her lost daughter can be remembered too. Though it is sad--it is a happy time too...
