May day............

Do you remember making May day baskets when you were young??

I was just reading a blog that reminded me of that. I think I might do it next year. This year I have no supplies to put in the baskets.

Mayday is also a day celebrated by the communists.

It is also a day steeped in lots of pagan traditions, as are most of our Christian holidays and celebrations.

Happy May day to everyone.

April Blanket

This is my last blanket for April.

It's a smaller blanket, more like a lovey type of blanket.

This one would be a Granny square pattern.

It is made of 100% cotton, 8 ply. It's similar to using 2 strands of cotton--the 4 ply stuff. I had some leftover in a skein and decided to just use it and make a small blanket.

At Seventeen............

Remember this song? By Janis Ian??

I do. I remember seeing it on Saturday Night Live in 1975.

It's a very sad song to me.

I never was a part of any group in school, however, I had friends from all groups. It was weird but that's pretty much how my life has been.

Anyway, this song always brings back a lot of memories.

Wikipedia has some history of the song and Janis Ian. Worth reading.
Wiki link

At Seventeen by Janis Ian

I learned the truth at seventeen
That love was meant for beauty queens
And high school girls with clear skinned smiles
Who married young and then retired
The valentines I never knew
The Friday night charades of youth
Were spent on one more beautiful
At seventeen I learned the truth...

And those of us with ravaged faces
Lacking in the social graces
Desperately remained at home
Inventing lovers on the phone
Who called to say "come dance with me"
And murmured vague obscenities
It isn't all it seems at seventeen...

A brown eyed girl in hand me downs
Whose name I never could pronounce
Said: "Pity please the ones who serve
They only get what they deserve"
The rich relationed hometown queen
Marries into what she needs
With a guarantee of company
And haven for the elderly...

So remember those who win the game
Lose the love they sought to gain
In debitures of quality and dubious integrity
Their small-town eyes will gape at you
In dull surprise when payment due
Exceeds accounts received at seventeen...

To those of us who knew the pain
Of valentines that never came
And those whose names were never called
When choosing sides for basketball
It was long ago and far away
the world was younger than today
when dreams were all they gave for free
to ugly duckling girls like me...

We all play the game, and when we dare
We cheat ourselves at solitaire
Inventing lovers on the phone
Repenting other lives unknown
That call and say: "Come on, dance with me"
And murmur vague obscenities
At ugly girls like me, at seventeen...

My dogs

These are my dogs. The one in front and the one on the right are my boys. Otis and Louie. They are brothers born seven months apart.

The one in the back left is Sophie. She is one of the dogs we inherited from my aunt.

They are all short haired, short legged Jack Russells and they are all six years old this year!! Otis and Louie were just puppies when I got them and I chose Louie a week after he was born.

Sophie I knew since she was a puppy also and I have had her for almost 4 years now.

They are good dogs and relatively mild for JRT's!!

April Blankets

This is my most recent blanket. The color is called Boston Rose and the yarn is Homespun by Lion brand.

It is for a little girl I know. I hope she likes it!

Compost Pile

This is my compost pile today. It's bigger and dirt-ier. It smells so earthy too. It is composting well so far and it is being used and added to all the time.

This is my compost pile in August of 2006.

SNOW!!!???

Today we woke up to a dusting of snow. I am so thankful that all it is is a dusting!!

My son wanted to go out and play in the snow!! There wasn't even enough for that.

I drove about an hour to my mom's this morning and it flurried the whole way there and the whole way home.

I am ready for some nice weather again. Hopefully soon because it feel like winter today.

It is currently 36 degrees. Brrrrr.

Come, now is the time

This is another favorite song of mine.

Come, now is the time

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come

One day every tongue will confess You are God
One day every knee will bow
Still, the greatest treasure remains for those
Who gladly choose You now

Romans 14:11

11 For it is written:
“ As I live, says the LORD,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”

Philipians 2:9-11

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My friend in need.......pt 2

http://pj-countryroads.blogspot.com/2008/04/my-friendin-need.html

Earlier in the month, in the above post I asked you all to pray for my friend in need.

I heard from her on the phone and all is well, Thank God! HIS Mercy endures forever!!

Psalm 118:24
24 This is the day the LORD has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Neil Young

This song is old and brings back lots of memories. I had a friend copy the album onto a cassette tape from an album!.
This was one of my favorites.

Sugar Mountain

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.

It's so noisy at the fair
But all your friends are there
And the candy floss you had
And your mother and your dad.

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.

There's a girl just down the aisle,
Oh, to turn and see her smile.
You can hear the words she wrote
As you read the hidden note.

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.

Now you're underneath the stairs
And you're givin' back some glares
To the people who you met
And it's your first cigarette.

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.

Now you say you're leavin' home
'Cause you want to be alone.
Ain't it funny how you feel
When you're findin' out it's real?

Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
With the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.
Oh, to live on Sugar Mountain
with the barkers and the colored balloons,
You can't be twenty on Sugar Mountain
Though you're thinking that
you're leaving there too soon,
You're leaving there too soon.

Thankful Thursday

Today it is raining but we have had a few days of glorious weather. My compost pile is doing well and my husband and son used some of the dirt for the garden!! Now that it is thawed out I need to turn it over.

Today I am thankful for:
*Spring
*bleach
*Dh's days off work!!
*no cooking nights!!
*Apples!

Spring really is here. Finally.
Bleach because it is a good and inexpensive cleaner and sanitizer.
Dh has a WEEK off work!
No cooking tonight because if we eat at Culvers they give a percentage of it to the Private school DS will be attending!
Apples--I have been trying to eat at least one apple a day. I really like apples and my son is starting to become more interested in them too. the grocery gives a free apple to children and he chews on that while we are grocery shopping.

Psalm 150
Let All Things Praise the LORD
1 Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!

2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!

3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!

4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!

5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD!

CSA

CSA=Community Supported Agriculture. It's a good thing!!

I just called this morning to put in my order for a half share.

I will receive yummy organic veggies from June through October, twice a month, with the opportunity to order herbs, fresh eggs and other produce and fruits.

This is exciting because I don't have a big enough garden to be able to plant a huge variety of veggies, and this will give us the opportunity to try some new vegetables as well!

A new book was purchased, thanks to Nicole. It's called The Victory Garden Cookbook and it has every vegetable in it and every way to cook it!!

For those of you who are interested in this, you can go to this link http://www.localharvest.org/ and just put your state in the search and see what comes up!

April Blankets

This month I have been working on these preemie afghans. They measure about 20x22, except for the last two on the right, which are smaller. That dark one is not black--it is a deep purple!

I had some leftover skeins of yarn and came across this project on my crochet board and decided it was time to use up those leftover skeins.

I've done this twice before, where I have made preemie and micro preemie afghans.

The first time was about 6 yrs ago when I made a bunch of them to bring to the hospital where I had my preemie baby (my daughter) many many years ago.

The second time is when an acquaintance of mine had her baby born to early to survive. We were due around the same time. It always touched my heart and opened my eyes to Incompetent Cervix issues that women have.

I made many tiny blankets to send to the hospital where her dear daughter was born.

So, this is just something I felt like doing for many reasons and it cleared up my stock of scrap yarn!!

The Pope

I watched the coverage of the Pope on his visit here. I also watched the Mass he had on Sunday. I have never seen a Catholic mass before in my life.
And, in the past I have found this pope just slightly creepy. Not anymore.

I realize you can't really get to know someone just by watching them on TV, but he is no longer that creepy pope to me. I learned a lot about him since the news people continually talk about him.

One thing I learned is he has a soft spot for the USA. I believe it stems back to his forced participation in Hitlers Nazi youth and Army. Of course the pope did not agree with Hitler and was happy when the US interceded in Germany at the end of the war.

I also really enjoyed the Mass. It was beautiful and I thought the Pope's message is one that could have been heard in any church on a Sunday!

Sunday song

Firm foundation

Jesus, you're my firm foundation
I know I can stand secure
Jesus, you're my firm foundation
I put my hope in your holy word
I put my hope in your holy word

I have a living hope
I have a future
God has a plan for me
Of this I'm sure, of this I'm sure

Your word is faithful
Mighty in power
God will deliver me
Of this I'm sure, of this I'm sure

I am also thankful for:

Amazing Grace

A week or so ago there was a discussion about this song on a message board I visit.
Then this past Sunday we sang it at church!!
WIkipedia has a bit of the songs history.

In her novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe includes an extra, final verse which may have been taken from another hymn:

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.

This additional verse is credited by some to John P. Rees (1828-1900) and became firmly established as part of the hymn from the early twentienth century, appearing in many hymnals.

And here's the song:
"Amazing Grace"

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That sav’d a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears reliev’d;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believ’d!

Thro’ many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace has brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promis’d good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yes, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who call’d me here below,
Will be forever mine.

John Newton, Olney Hymns (London: W. Oliver, 1779)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2 Corinthians 12:9
9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
John 1:16
16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
Acts 20:24,32
24 But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Here comes the sun!!
The Beatles
Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
and I say it's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun,
and I say it's all right
It's all right
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The last two days have been beautiful here. Today is a little windy but it is currently 56 degrees and sunny.

I have missed the sun lately and it feels so good to be warm again.

It seems like the winter was very long and cold this year.

We have been outside a lot in the last two days and it looks like the weather is going to continue to be nice!! YAY!!!!

I could sing of your love forever

Another favorite song of mine.

I Could Sing Of Your Love Forever

Over the mountains and the sea,
Your river runs with love for me,
and I will open up my heart
and let the Healer set me free.
I'm happy to be in the truth,
and I will daily lift my hands:
for I will always sing of when
Your love came down.

I could sing of Your love forever,
I could sing of Your love forever,
I could sing of Your love forever,
I could sing of Your love forever.

Oh, I feel like dancing -
it's foolishness I know;
but, when the world has seen the light,
they will dance with joy,
like we're dancing now.

Even the losers............

Get lucky sometimes!!

Tom Petty

Even the Losers

Well, it was nearly all summer we sat on your roof
Yeah, we smoked cigarettes and we stared at the moon
And I'd show you stars you never could see
Baby, it couldn't have been that easy to forget about me

Baby, time meant nothing, anything seemed real
Yeah, you could kiss like fire and you made me feel
Like every word you said was meant to be
No, it couldn't have been that easy to forget about me

Baby, even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers keep a little bit of pride
They get lucky sometimes

Two cars parked on the overpass,
Rocks hit the water like broken glass
I should have known right then it was too good to last
God, it's such a drag when you're living in the past

Baby, even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers keep a little bit of pride
They get lucky sometimes

Baby, even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers keep a little bit of pride
Yeah, they get lucky sometimes

Baby, even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers get lucky sometimes

Even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers get lucky sometimes
Even the losers get lucky sometimes

The Stranger

This is a post copied with permission from Bethany.

The Stranger

A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new to our small Texas town.

From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family. The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.

As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my family. In my young mind, he had a special niche. My parents were complementary instructors: Mom taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey. But the stranger...he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies. If I wanted to know anything about politics, history or science, he always knew the
answers about the past, understood the present and even seemed able to predict the future!

He took my family to the first major league ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem to mind. Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet. (I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)

Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions, but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them. Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home... Not from us, our friends or any visitors. Our longtime visitor, however, got away with four-letter words that burned my ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush.
My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol. But the stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made cigarettes look cool, cigars manly and pipes distinguished.

He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally embarrassing. I now know that my early concepts about relationships were influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked... And NEVER asked to leave.

More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and watch him draw his pictures.

His name?

We just call him "TV."

An oldie but goodie

I heard this song recently--it brings back memories.
King Harvest

Dancing in the Moonlight

We get it on most every night
When that old moon gets so big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You can't dance and stay uptight
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark, and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody's feeling warm and right
It's such a fine and natural sight
Everybody's dancing in the moonlight

Whom shall I fear?

Another favorite song.
This song is based on Psalm 27:1

Whom shall I fear

I will seek You Lord
While I am in my youth.
I will serve You Lord,
And I'll proclaim Your truth.
For You've searched and found me
While I was far away.
And in my troubled times
You've always kept me safe.

The Lord is my Light
and my Salvation
Whom Shall I Fear?
Whom Shall I Fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life
Whom Shall I Fear?
Whom Shall I Fear?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 27:1-6
1 The LORD is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.
4 One thing I have desired of the LORD,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD,
And to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
An apology
I am sorry.
I am sorry to the whole PCOS community.
That's all I can say.
It is sincere and heartfelt.
Please accept my apology.
I don't believe there is anything I can do to make anything right.
All I can do is say I am sorry.
My friend..........in need
I have a friend that could use your prayers please.
I hesitate to give too much info because I want to protect her privacy.
God knows the situation and if you could just pray for her and her child that would be much appreciated!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Romans 8:26 (Amplified Bible)

26 So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

Ephesians 6:18 (Amplified Bible)

18 Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God's consecrated people).

Philippians 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

The Lord is good

One of my favorite songs.

For the Lord is good
And His love endures forever
He's a faithful God
To all generations

For the Lord is good
And His mercies will not fail us
They are new each day
O lift your voice and say
'The Lord is good'

Great is Your faithfulness O Lord
Your loving kindness fills our
Hearts to overflowing
Songs of rejoicing and sweet praise
They fill our hearts
They fill our days

RIP Charlton Heston

I just read that he died. He suffered from Alzheimers too. Very sad.

Charlton Heston (October 4, 1924 – April 5, 2008) was an American Academy Award-winning film actor.

Heston was known for playing heroic roles, such as Moses in The Ten Commandments, Colonel George Taylor in Planet of the Apes and Judah Ben-Hur in Ben-Hur. Early in his career, he was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to publicly speak out against racism and was active in the civil rights movement. During the latter part of his movie career, he starred in films such as The Omega Man and Soylent Green, which have a strong environmental message. He was president of the National Rifle Association from 1998 to 2003.

Sunday Song

Trading my sorrows

Trading My Sorrows

I'm trading my sorrow
I'm trading my shame
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

I'm trading my sickness
I'm trading my pain
I'm laying it down for the joy of the Lord

And we say yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord Amen

I'm pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I'm blessed beyond the curse for his promise will endure
And his joy's gonna be my strength

Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning

Proverbs 15:12-14

12 A scoffer does not love one who corrects him,
Nor will he go to the wise.
13 A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance,
But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14 The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge,
But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.

I am weary..........

I am weary.

Do you ever wish you could turn back the clock?

In certain circumstances I wish I could turn back the clock.

Number 3 in each definition fits my weariness right now.

Weary:

2 : expressing or characteristic of weariness (a weary sign)
3 : having one's patience, tolerance, or pleasure exhausted —used with of
4 : wearisome

Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the LORD,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

I read the news today......

I did. I read the newspaper everyday. There was a story in there about a man that found and returned a package. This is what he said:

"Sometimes we cannot directly undo the specific wrongs we have done, but perhaps we are given the opportunities to make amends by preventing other wrongs from taking place."

I like this message.

Two songs today

Can you hear them in your head?? I can. :)

Whitesnake (yes, Whitesnake)

Here I go Again

I don't know where I'm going
But, I sure know where I've been
Hanging on the promises
In songs of yesterday
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
But, here I go again
Here I go again

Though I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm looking for
Oh Lord, I pray
You give me strength to carry on

Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time

I'm just another heart in need of rescue
Waiting on love's sweet charity

And I'm gonna hold on
For the rest of my days
Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone

An I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time
But here I go again
Here I go again
Here I go again
Here I go again

Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone

And I've made up my mind
I ain't wasting no more time

And here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone

Cos I know what it means
To walk along the lonely street of dreams

We Belong

We Belong, We Belong to the light
Many times I've tried to tell you
Many times I've cried alone
Always I'm surprised how well you
Cut my feelings to the bone

Don't want to leave you really
I've invested too much time
To give you up that easy
To the doubts that complicate your mind

We Belong to the light
We Belong to the thunder
We Belong to the sound of the words
We've both fallen under
Whatever we deny or embrace
For worse or for better
We Belong, We Belong
We Belong together

Maybe it's a sign of weakness
When I don't know what to say
Maybe I just wouldn't know
What to do with my strength anyway
Have we become a habit
Do we distort the facts
Now there's no looking forward
Now there's no turning back
When you say

Close your eyes and try to sleep now
Close your eyes and try to dream
Clear your mind and do your best
To try and wash the palette clean
We can't begin to know it
How much we really care
I hear your voice inside me
I see your face everywhere
Still you say

Thankful Thursday

Today is a beautiful, cold, sunny day here.
Today I am thankful for:
*the capacity to forgive and be forgiven
*hearing the birds sing
*the miraculous spring rebirth of everything
*for having my two children
*rainbows--God's covenant with us that he would never destroy humankind again and because my son likes rainbows!
*for being a non smoker.

Genesis 9:12-17
12 And God said: “This is the sign of the covenant which I make between Me and you, and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

14 It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;

15 and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

17 And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”

Birds

We are starting to get some of our birds back!! This morning I heard them singing.

The Finches are back. So are the Nuthatches and Robins. Poor Robins. When it snowed yesterday they were all in the crabapple trees eating all the dried fruit.

The Bluejays have been here all winter, as were the Chickadees. Even the Downy Woodpecker wintered here.

The dark eyed Juncos are starting to leave now. They summer up in Canada, and winter down here where it's warmer. LOL

The beautiful Cardinals also winter here. They are fun to watch at the feeder. Usually the male feeds the female as she sits in the tree and he gets the food and brings it to her.

I always look forward to seeing the different birds come back and trying to find new visitors.

The Bluebirds and sparrows are not here yet. Neither are the Orioles.

We get other birds and I will add them as I think of them.

Watch it grow part 3

This plant is just exploding with blooms! I have my own piece of spring inside my house. Especially since we just got about 4 inches of snow and the ground is still frozen!!

Isn't it beautiful?? And it smells as good as it looks!

100 percent

I was running/walking on my treadmill this morning thinking about things. I seem to think about things when I am exercising or scrubbing floors.

Throughout my life, I know I have not given 100% of myself in most everything I do. There is no reason, I just haven't. Maybe it's just how I am made.

Looking back through my life and my experiences, I can see in my minds eye where I could have done something differently, or better, or quicker. Where I could have spend more time here or there. Or said something different in a certain situation, or not said something. There's a lot to be said for not saying something too. Or a different choice made or a different word spoken.

Even my relationship with God isn't 100 percent!!

I know what I am capable of doing and giving etc. I just know I haven't given 100% in all I do.

It sort of bothers me too.

Is it just being lazy? Taking shortcuts?? Is it being un motivated? Fatigued? Just downright tired of life? What is it??? I don't think anyone really has the answer. I think the answer comes from within each of us.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes and most of us try to admit that and take responsibility for our actions.

I am no better than the next person and I know that I have tried to rectify my mistakes where I could and when I couldn't it was hard to come to terms with that.

Sometimes life just sucks but we plod along doing the best we can.

Sometimes we just struggle to make it through a day or a week or a month or even an hour. Sometimes it's nice to have friends to talk about our struggles.

Have you always given 100%???
