Thanksgiving

I'm here with a belated Thanksgiving update.  We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year, just our moms were here with us. Hubby smoked the turkey and I made all the fixings.  It was yummy.  Made a homemade pumpkin pie again this year and it was so easy and tasty.  We will be hosting about 20 for Christmas dinner and gift opening.

School is almost over for me. I received my final test last night and I will turn it in next Wednesday. I am glad I have a week to complete it.  I also signed up for Spring semester classes, two of them this time. I signed up for a basic Math class and a basic Writing class. I need to take more than one class at a time if I am ever going to finish.  But I am glad I started with History. It was a fun, easy class and I actually learned a lot.

Our new windows are all in and they all have new coverings!! We especially love the bay window, it really opens up our house!

For the second time in about a year, my mom was thinking of moving. Mostly because the stairs up to her condo are becoming an issue. So, we looked at another place that she really liked. Until she figured out her finances and decided she didn't really want to move. I don't care what she decides, I just want her to be happy!!  So we have been looking at Stair Aids. It is a chair thingy that attaches to her stairs and it brings her up the stairs. Her building management allows these in the buildings and it isn't that expensive. I think it will be the perfect solution for her.

I got my hair cut a few months ago, a little shorter, then I went and got it cut even shorter. I wasn't sure at first, but I really like it shorter. I think I'll keep it this way. And, in May, I quit dying it, so everyone can see my gray now!

I also went for my 5 month dental hygiene appointment and I need another root canal. The dentist fixed the tooth a year ago and was skeptical that it would work. It didn't and I now need a root canal. The silver lining is that the tooth already has a crown! Yay me. So, I now will have NINE crowns and FIVE root canals in my mouth. The dentist told me some of this is genetics (thanks dad).  Because I do brush and floss every day.  Meh...............

My little guy is doing well in school. He likes school a lot and is a quick learner. Thankfully he loves to read too!  He keeps busy with boy scouts and Awana during the week. He's busy, but not too busy, which is perfect.

Husband is doing well too. He has done a lot of Christmas shopping and between the two of us we are done. I just need to wrap, and I will have my little helper helping me!!

The daughter is doing well too. Keeping busy with her job and cats and going to school.

I think that's about it. I've been crocheting, though not as much lately. I have a few things to post and I'll get to that soon.

Thanksgiving Thankful Thursday

Today is Thanksgiving day and we celebrated with our moms.

This year I have been thinking a lot about the early settlers of our nation. I can't imagine the hardships they went through to get here and survive the first few years.

We have most everything in bounty. Not having to worry about food or shelter like the early settlers did.

I am thankful for them and for our nation.

I am also thankful for:

* my mom and her continued health
* my family
* being able to get together and share a bountiful meal
* God

Thankful Thursday

Today is Thanksgiving. My turkey is stuffed and cooking away in the oven. I have all my side dishes prepared, and the rolls are rising.

We have no snow today and it reminds me of the Thanksgiving's of my youth when my Grandpa and his wife would come visiting. Cool crisp sunny days made for a walk.

Some years we went to my Uncle's house near St. Louis. I have fond memories of thanksgiving--being with family, and celebrating.

This year my gathering is small since my husband will be going in to work tonight.
So it is just my family and my mom.

Today I am thankful for:
* my mom--that she remains vibrant and healthy
* my daughter
* my little guy
* my husband
* my God and faith
* plentiful fresh food
* family being together
* my freedoms

Thanksgiving

That time of year again.

I am making a full turkey dinner this year. It will be just my family and my mom.

This year I feel impressed to pray for our nation and the leaders of our nation.

Everyone from the President, Governors, Congressmen, Senators and any one else in a leadership position. I believe at this time in our history, our nation needs prayer. I try to pray daily for our nation and leaders but must admit that I don't make it each day.

I am eternally thankful I live here where I can freely worship and praise GOD. Though it seems to be harder and harder to do.

I am thankful for all my family members. Especially my mom and husband. I am also very thankful for my two children. They each have brought me something different and glorious at different stages of my life. Each child of mine is a true miracle to me, for many reasons.

I am thankful I can make a full turkey dinner and enjoy it with my family. I am thankful for a full cupboards and a full refrigerator--things I often take for granted.

I am thankful for friends in my life--past and present. I believe each friend was brought into my life for a reason and a season.

And today, I am even thankful for message boards and the people I have "met" through them.

I am thankful to have wonderful memories of family members that are no longer with us. I can remember the good memories, and the fun memories. Past thanksgiving celebrations with family members no longer here. Cherished memories of family members. These are good memories and sometimes they bring tears. Good tears.

It often seems to be a day of reflection for me too. I will continue to reflect throughout the week.

Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving and Thankful Thursday.

I hope you all are gathered with your families and friends this day enjoying food, fun and fellowship.

I am thankful for many things this year.

My family, and our health.

Faith.

Having enough.

Having more than enough.

Being able to give to others joyfully.

For having shoes.
Shoes

For being able to cook a meal today.

For God forgiving me for being so dismissive of huge blessings in my life.

Thanksgiving.

I hosted this year. I live in a small house and have 4 brothers and their families.
One brother and his family couldn't make it so there were only 18 of us this year. My mom and Mother in law were here too.
I was a bit apprehensive about the whole dinner but much to my amazement we had a wonderful time.
Each family brought the designated food items and Dh smoked two turkeys. We had plenty of food and there were plenty of leftovers for people to take home too.
It was a very enjoyable day.
Today I am thankful for my family. And remembering the family members that are no longer with us.
We did not go shopping today. Neither of us are shoppers.
I cleaned my mom's house today and actually dh and ds went to a couple of stores.
Dh also got a new laptop computer from Best buy. But he was in and out in 15 minutes!!! That's how we shop, we are very efficient!!
