Thankful Thursday

Today Lynn is hosting Thankful Thursday!

It has been a fun week this week. Plus our garden is starting to produce eatable food! We have another zucchini, and some Roma and cherry tomatoes. They all taste so fresh and so different than store bought.

Today I am thankful for:
* my family and our good health
* my little boy who loves big sister
* my daughter
* for the Mall of America. I am not a shopper but had fun there on Tuesday
* my lovely garden, I can't wait for the bigger tomatoes!

Thankful Thursday

This week Lynn is hosting Thankful Thursday.

I have much to be thankful for these past two weeks.

I didn't make a TT post last week. I am not sure why I didn't do it.

I am thankful for my families health, I know I post that almost every week but it is true. My husband had a health scare last week that was frightening. He is going in for more testing but so far everything looks good!

My little guy is really not much of a swimmer. He cannot float and he needs to be able to float to pass the current level of lessons. So, he will be repeating this level again this summer. If he doesn't pass, I know a woman that teaches privately and he will do that. He needs to learn to swim.

I am also thankful for air conditioning this summer! We actually didn't have air for many years and I wonder now how we did that!

I am thankful for my garden!! We got a HUGE Zucchini about two weeks ago and I was able to make SIX loaves of bread with it. My boy loves Zucchini bread.

We also are starting to get tomatoes now. For some reason we have a cherry tomato plant and I don't like cherry tomatoes. But I ate one and it was delicious. I can't wait til we get the bigger tomatoes!

My mom remains healthy even though she had a bad case of gout. It's better now but it was painful.

I am blessed!!

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the

Romans 1:20 (New Living Translation)

20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

Thankful Thursday

Lynn is our host for the month of July. Today she has a post about friendship.

It's been so hot and humid here this past week. We went to a new waterpark pool in our area and it was a great pool. I didn't go in the water, and kept in the shade the whole time and still got burned!! So did both my guys!

The veggie garden is doing well and I was able to share some of my lettuce with the neighbor--he enjoyed it!! And we got our first zucchini today--it is HUGE. I will make zucchini bread tomorrow, the little guy loves it!

Today I am thankful for:
* my family
* fresh garden veggies
* my garden
* the flowers in our yard--there is such a beautiful scent outside!
* the hummingbirds and all the other birds and wildlife in our yard
* my husband--because he puts up with me!!
* my little guy--he brings me such joy

Independence day!!

I chose this flag because it is closest to the flag that was around in 1814 when the Star Spangled Banner was written. The war of 1812, between the British and American troops is well worth a good read.

In the past year or so I have been studying the history--the real history of our United States and my eyes have been opened to what our founding fathers were, and how this nation was formed.

It is fascinating to say the least.

I am posting the all the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner today. We mostly always just sing the first verse, but take a careful look at the rest of the verses.

The Star Spangled Banner
By Francis Scott Key 1814

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Prayers and Promises week 27

Bethany has chosen "power" for the theme this month!

Ephesians 1:18-19 (New Living Translation)

18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.[a]

19 I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms
