Yarn factory selling to Canada
This is the article about the Yarn factory.
This story makes me so sad on many levels.
First, people are losing their jobs.
It's a family run business.
It's leaving the USA.
It's being sold to a Canadian company, which is really ok. But the Canadian company already makes a cotton yarn, and I dare say it is not as soft as the Pisgah Yarn & Dyeing company makes. I have some of the Canadian made cotton yarn too, because I buy by color and not necessarily country of origin.
Most of the yarn I buy is made here in the USA or Canada.
It just makes me sad that this company is packing up and moving out of the USA.

Dishcloths again
Ten more dishcloths. I'm making them throughout the year to give as gifts at Christmas.
I'm taking a break for now because my hands and wrists are sore from the repetiveness of dishcloths and cotton. Working with cotton always makes my hands and wrists sore.
I love the weird patterns some of this cotton yarn makes. The one brownish colored cloth on the left is self stripping. I have a few more balls of the self stripping. It will be fun to see what they all look like!

Dishcloths
There was a post going around on Facebook. "pay it forward in 2011". If you post that and "I will make something handmade and send it to the first five people that comment", people would make a comment and in turn, post it on their wall.
I was disappointed with the outcome. My cousin and I concluded that people just don't really make things anymore, or don't have the time. even a simple card would be fun to receive.
I knew immediately when I saw the post that I would be participating. I only got four people to play along, and these are some of the dishcloths I made and am sending out to people.
They are made with 100% cotton yarn and they are fun to make too!!

Baby hats
These are 44 baby hats that I made in December. I also made two adult hats and a baby blanket but I don't have pictures of them.
These hats will be going to this organization. I have made for them before.
Baby hats
Hats are so quick to make too. I used mostly baby yarn that I had already. Some of it was Red Heart and other brands of yarn.
A dog blanket
This is a little dog blanket I made for a woman I know. She has a Daschund/mix.
It's made with mostly scrap Red Heart yarn. After I wash it it should be soft for the doggy.
It's about 23 inches wide and 28 inches long.
I've made dog blankets for my dogs and they really like them. So much in fact that when I am crocheting something on the couch, if I don't move my project, the dogs will try to lay on it. I never realized that they don't know the difference between a dog blanket and a crochet project!! My daughter pointed that out to me this summer. She just told me that the dogs think it's another dog blanket!!
