Independence day

July 4, 1776 was the day chosen as my country's Independence day.

I find it interesting that it is now celebrated with fireworks and parades etc.

In 1781, it was the first time Independence day was recognized as a celebration and 1791 was the first recorded use of the term "Independence day"

I am glad I live in this country. I have visited other countries and am thankful for the USA.

I have fond memories of this day. One of them is spending the summer with my aunt and uncle and cousins in New Jersey and going to the shore watching fireworks on the beach.
