This is a Cooper's Hawk. It landed in our back yard this afternoon. This picture is from the internet but it is what the hawk looks like.
DH and I are birdwatchers and when my husband opened up our bird book, there was a notation that we had seen this same bird here in 1997.
The hawk moved before we could snap a picture.
